Tiyatrolani carnival bound after 2nd win

Brilliant filly Tiyatrolani has put herself in the winter carnival picture for trainer Tony Gollan and owners Eureka Stud with victory at Doomben.

Tiyatrolani ($3.80) demolished a classy field of two-year-olds in Saturday’s Services Trades College Hcp (1100m) leading from the start to beat Real Classic ($5) by 4-1/4 lengths.

The victory was the filly’s second from as many starts.

Gollan and Eureka Stud’s Scott McAlpine have had much success in recent years with horses such as Group One winning brothers Spirit of Boom and Temple of Boom.

“I actually bought Tiyatrolani’s dam Tiyatro for a good bit of money and while she won a couple of races she was disappointing,” Gollan said.

“Tiyatro was a bit of a head case and could get worked up but Tiyatrolani is very calm and a real racehorse.

“Right from day one she has shown us plenty.”

Gollan said Tiyatrolani would now head to the Group Two Champagne Classic in two weeks before moving on to the Group Two BRC Sires Produce (1300m) on May 28.

“She is a get-out-and-go filly but there is no doubt she will get further,” Gollan said.

Trainer Steve O’Dea was pleased with the comeback run of Magic Millions Classic placegetter Candika ($4.40) who ran home well for third.

“She had to get too far back from the barrier but I am very happy with the run,” O’Dea said.
