Another week of racing in Victoria kicks off at Ternag on Monday afternoon where a bumper nine-race card is scheduled and Horsebetting.com.au presents our best bets, top odds and free quaddie tips. The track has come up a Good 4, with the rail in the true position, for the meeting commencing at 1pm AEDT.
Terang Best Bet – Fight On Shades
Our best bet of the day comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie when Matthew Williams saddles up Fight On Shades over 1200m. Having been a smart maiden winner at Hamilton two starts back on November 22, the three-year-old son of Fighting Sun chased home the in-form Enigma last time out at the Hamilton 1100m on December 7. He was held up at a crucial time on the home turn on that day, but still hit the line late to go down by 1.75 lengths on the line. He managed to put 2.25 lengths of his own on his closest rival back in third, to suggest he was one worth backing at his next start. From barrier three, we expect to see Dean Yendall lob him just off the leader’s heels. If he can get an opening at key time in the home straight, then we anticipate Fight On Shades will put a decent space on his rivals.
Next Best at Terang – Kadena
Lindsey Smith will be hoping his three-year-old filly Kadena can finally breakthrough for a maiden win at start four. Having begun her career with two runner-up performances, she was a touch disappointing when finishing fourth at Warrnambool on November 28. Two starts back, she was narrowly beaten by our best bet on Monday Fight On Shades at Hamilton on November 22, so she must be given a big chance at Terang. It is hard to like her racing pattern, where she jumps cleanly from the barriers and looks to race up on speed. From barrier 11, we expect to see Declan Bates have the Kuroshio filly settled outside the leader. With race fitness and decent form lines for a maiden behind her, she clearly looks the one to catch over 1000m.
Terang Value Bet – Nordic Symphony
We were with Nordic Symphony two starts back where she won at a big price at Warrnambool on November 28 and we think she can replicate a similar performance on Monday. Following that win, she chased home Maid Of Iron at Moonee Valley on December 10 and we anticipate she will appreciate dropping back to a country level BM64. She will need to carry 61kg on her back, she did carry 59kg when she won at the ‘Bool. Nordic Symphony got the better of Sheezabigdeel on that day and despite conceding 4kg to her rival, we to see this Glass Harmonium mare back in the winner’s stall on Monday.
