Tatts Tiara betting guide with odds, in-depth form and free tips

Tatts Tiara betting

FEATURE racing continues this Saturday with the Group 1 Tatts Tiara at Doomben.

The fillies and mares will run for $500,000 and it’s one of the most even betting fields in Brisbane winter carnival history.

Punters are getting extreme value with most runners in the full field and we have picked our top four tips with form and updated odds.

With such an even betting field, punters are able to secure great odds for every runner and you can find the best odds for the Tatts Tiara at Sportsbet.com.au which is running a special on the first four races at Doomben on Saturday.

Tatts Tiara top pick – Eckstein

We think In Her Time could be the best horse in this race, but it’s too short in the betting and the value is clearly with Eckstein at almost three times the price.

The Kurt Goldman-trained filly is a five-time winner from 10 starts and it scored a brilliant win in the Glenlogan Park Stakes at Eagle Farm last start.

The filly by I Am Invincible scored consecutive wins in Queensland in the summer before running a credible third behind Flying Jess in the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas at Gold Coast.

It flashed home behind Miss Debutante in the Denises Joy and that showed its ability to run on good and rain-affected tracks.

Punters haven’t stayed clear in the Tatts Tiara, but that’s most likely due to the barrier draw of 14. It has the ability to drop back from the jump and kick strongly in the straight, so the draw shouldn’t be an issue.

$11 at Bet365.com is a great value price and $4 for the place is a steal considering it opened much shorter in the market earlier in the week.

Tatts Tiara value tip – Tycoon Tara

This will be the third consecutive run where Tycoon Tara has started at double figure odds and there’s value with the six-year-old.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained runner is having its fifth start this campaign and not everything has gone right so far. It sat four wide in the Sapphire Stakes at Randwick to start its campaign before weaving through the field to run fifth in the VOBIS Gold Sprint at Caulfield.

It then turned to Queensland where it ran poorly on a heavy track and that run might have taken the spring out of its step in the Dane Ripper last start. It’s much better on a dry track which it should get on Saturday and drawing barrier six is ideal.

Tycoon Tara will be looking to take its career earnings over $1 million and punters should get stuck into the $7 to place with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Tatts Tiara long shot tip – Rare Occurrence

$81 at Luxbet.com is about the right price for Rare Occurrence, but the odds shouldn’t scare punters away.

The Sunshine Coast hopeful has won five from 18 starts which included back-to-back wins on this track earlier this year and the course specialist shouldn’t be overlook against the talented opposition.

The Stuart Kendrick-trained three-year-old finished third behind Burning Passion at Eagle Farm two starts back and it fought on well behind All Over Bosanova in the Daybreak Lover on June 10.

This is a much harder task, but there’s no champion runners in this field and with the right run it could spring the upset.

Tatts Tiara must include – Prompt Response

Prompt Response has been respected in the market at $7 and rightfully so after winning the Dane Ripper last start.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained filly produced a big finish to score by a half-length over My True Love and it should be able to get a good run and transit and finish off well again.

It has finished out of the money only once from six starts at this distance and it runs best on good tracks – with 10 starts for three wins and four placings.

Backing horses with a good turn-of-foot is a way to make money betting on horse racing and Prompt Response isn’t lacking in that department.
