Taree Horse Betting Preview – Monday, 11th January 2021
Six races will be run and won on Monday afternoon at Taree. The track is a heavy 8, and the rail is in the true position.
Race 1 will face the starter at 1:45pm.
Best Bet – Race 2 #7 Linguee
We are happy to side with the shortest priced runner of the day here, after the Kim Waugh-trained filly put in a solid effort on debut. The daughter of Panzer Division finished fifth at Gosford when favourite a fortnight ago and looks well placed in a much easier race here. Serg Lisnyy hops aboard here which is ideal in the small field, so that she can kick up and find a forward spot. She’ll be too good for these country gallopers.
Next Best Bet – Race 5 #2 Stonecold Flex
Tas Morton’s Stonecold Flex looks a great bet in the penultimate race after his 4L demolition job on a Heavy 10 at Coffs Harbour last time out. The four-year-old gelding steps up in class to Class 2 level here and rises 0.5kg in weight, but he looks to be promising and will love the heavy conditions again. Gate 2 will see him be taken straight to the front under Mikayla Weir and should be able to fend them off.
Best Value Bet – Race 6 #5 Tallis
Tallis was a Class 2 Highway winner in July last year on a heavy track over the 1100m and was less than 8L off Pinnacle Prince last start which is good enough for us to want to back him here at around the $6. He drops back to 1000m here, gets his suited heavy track and should find the front under Belinda Hodder and 59kg. He’ll be in it for a very long way.
