Best Bet – #1 Fenech
Kim Waugh saddles up her handy four-year-old gelding in the fourth race. Fenech, a son of the late Redoute’s Choice, has won three of his six career starts, including a good first-up win at this track and distance on a Heavy track. Dylan Gibbons rode him that day, and he stays on board here which is a plus given that he claims 1.5kg. From barrier five, Fenech should be handy to the speed and can be winning again.

Next Best – #12 Adamdeeant
Tony Ball’s Adamdeeant has been racing well of late, winning two starts ago and placing second here over 1000m last time out. The four-year-old son of Whittington handles all conditions well and does his best racing over the 1000m short course. Madeline Owen knows the horse well, and her 4kg apprentice allowance gets the gelding in with only 53kg which is hugely beneficial. Drawn out a bit in barrier 13, Owen will cross them to lead and can hopefully lead all of the way.
