Swan Hill betting preview – Tuesday, February 16

Swan Hill hosts a Tuesday meeting this week with eight races set to be run and won. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit, so we are set for a competitive midweek card leading into some meteor meetings over the coming weeks. The first at Swan Hill is set to jump at 1:30pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Bellicosity

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to find Bellicosity at $1.40, but his debut performance at Mornington suggests he will be hard to beat on Tuesday. It was hard to see him featuring in the finish at all after he missed the kick by five lengths, especially with how many tickets he would have used up tacking on to the back of the field. He then made a swooping run around the field to finish only a length off the eventual winner. With better barrier manners this time out, he should win this comfortably.

Best BetRace 3 – Bellicosity (#2) $1.40 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Frederick The Dane

Frederick The Dane’s first-up run at Caulfield on January 13 suggests he will be a big player in the first leg of the quaddie. He ran into the rock-hard fit Elderflower on that occasion and couldn’t match motors with him for the full 1000m. The drop back to a midweek BM64 looks ideal for the Dabernig & Hayes gelding, who two runs back finished only 2.5 lengths off Muntaseera. He maps to take a sit just off the leader’s heels, and the long straight at Swan Hill should give him ample opportunity to charge through late for his second career win.

Next BestRace 5 – Frederick The Dane (#4) $3.10 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Zipitsweetie

Having finished towards the rear of the field at Moonee Valley on January 22, the Archie Alexander-trained Zipitsweetie will appreciate dropping back to a midweek BM64. Her win at Donald two runs back suggests she can fight out the finish in this. The mare is a genuine get-back-and-run-on type, and so we can expect to see Declan Bates take her to the rear of the field from barrier 14. With a genuine tempo, she should get the chance to savage the line late.

Best ValueRace 6 – Zipitsweetie (#5) $7 with Sportsbet
