First Race 12:15pm AEST

An eight-part card is scheduled on Friday afternoon for Day 1 of the three-day Swan Hill Racing Carnival. HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst brings you his best bets, free quaddie numbers and the top odds for the meeting, which is set to be run on a Soft 5 and gets underway at 12:15pm AEST.

Best Bet: All About Eve

Andrew Noblet sends his two-year-old All About Eve to Swan Hill after seemingly being a good thing licked at Caulfield on May 29. The Star Turn filly was held up for a run throughout the majority of the home straight, but once she saw clear air, she charged home late in the last 100m to go down by a short half-head on the line. From barrier six under riding from Will Price, the should not be too far from the speed in the Elvstroem Classic as they settle at the rear of a seven-horse field. With the race set to be run at a genuine tempo, look for All About Eve to be savaging the line late.

Best BetRace 4 – All About Eve (#5) $1.80 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Inn Keeper

In the featured event of the day, the Golden Topaz, we are hoping Inn Keeper can bring the form that saw him take out the Listed Wangoom Handicap on May 5. He has run in this race in each of the past three years for a win and a minor placing, and he looks hard to hold out despite needing to lug 59kg. He finished third in this race last year, and with rain-affected going expected on Friday he has the runs on the board to make him the one to beat. Eight of his nine career wins have been on wet tracks, and from barrier two he will not be too far from the lead throughout the race.

Next BestRace 7 – Inn Keeper (#1) $7 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Lunch Session

We were with the Paul Preusker-trained Lunch Session at Ballarat on May 30, but he simply could not handle the 58kg he needed to carry. He drops 4kg off that run where he finished third, and with Dean Holland sticking on board they look the ones to beat. Expect Holland to use Lunch Session’s early speed and head to the front of the field from barrier 10, and with the drop in weight they could prove hard to run down in the opening leg of the quaddie.

Best ValueRace 6 – Lunch Session (#10) $11 with Sportsbet
