Sunshine Coast betting preview

Saturday’s metropolitan meeting in Queensland will be run at the Sunshine Coast’s Corbould Park. Nine races have been assembled, including two features: the Mooloolaba Cup and the Swiss Ace Plate. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is in the true position to create ideal racing conditions. Race 1 will jump at 12:43pm local time.

Best BetRace 8 – Ballistic Boy (#8) $2.50 with Sportsbet

This is the best bet anywhere in Australia on Saturday. Ballistic Boy was super first up at Doomben when he spotted the leader upwards of 10L as they turned for home at Doomben over 1350m. Up to a mile and onto the big track at the Sunshine Coast is supremely advantageous, as is the fact he stays at 54kg. Matt McGillivray stays aboard and can settle a little closer from barrier five on Saturday. He was one of the horses of the winter in Queensland and looks to be in great order ahead of the Summer Carnival. Chips in.

Next BestRace 5 – Gee Tee Tee (#1) $7.50 with Sportsbet

Steve O’Dea saddles up his talented five-year-old gelding in what looks a very open race. First up, he beat everything but Command’n’conquer, who was immediately sold to Hong Kong for a big sum of money. He just peaked on his run on that occasion, with race fitness and the class of the eventual winner being only just enough to beat him. The son of Written Tycoon has only missed the places twice, with those two failures coming in much tougher races. He drops back to Class 3 level, has race fitness on his side and loves the 1200m at the Sunshine Coast (4:3-0-1). There isn’t much speed drawn beneath him, so Ben Thompson can go forward and hopefully find the fence behind what looks to be a strong tempo from out wider on the track. He is a great bet at this price.

Best ValueRace 6 – Hancora Field (#2) $13 with Sportsbet

In what is arguably the toughest race of the day with the likes of Gotta Kiss, Goldsborough, Bleu Zebra and Iolite all lining up against each other, we believe there is one that has snuck under the radar. A winner of four from eight, including two at the Sunshine Coast, Hancora Field has continuously run well in similar grade. She has the second highest rating out of any of her opponents in the race but will carry the bottom weight after Sheriden Tomlinson’s 3kg claim, getting her down from 56.5kg to the 54kg minimum. She was beaten by Fleet Dove at her last run last prep, but it was on a Heavy 9 track and she had been up a while. She’s had a good trial win at Deagon leading up to this, and the stable is flying. She’s a great each-way chance.
