Sunshine Coast horse betting preview
A monster 10-race card has been assembled for the Sunshine Coast on Friday night. Big fields are the order of the evening, with 146 accepted runners set to take their spots in the starting stalls. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is out +3m for the entire circumference of the course. Race 1 jumps at 5:22pm local time.
Tony Gollan and Georgie Cartwright combine in the second-last race of the night with 11-start maiden Jerry Zanda. He’s been unlucky not to breakthrough, placing second four times in his career to date. He’s placed twice at the Sunshine Coast and is likely to enjoy the 1300m first up on the big track. From the wide alley, expect Cartwright to look for a midfield position and charge home out in the middle of the track.

Nat McCall saddles up undefeated gelding Platinum Euros, who brained them on debut at Rockhampton before justifying his short price at this track back in February. He’s had nine months off the scene and placed second in a recent barrier trial behind Doctor Zous in preparation for this. Tiff Brooker rides and should settle in a handy position from the inside alley. The four-year-old gelding has been dominant in both wins and should prove too good again here.

It’s as simple as this: Magnate is due. Stuart Kendrick’s four-year-old gelding has placed at his last two, beaten by under half a length both times. The son of Written Tycoon didn’t get the best of runs last start and still hit the line nicely under hard riding. Jag Guthman-Chester will ride for the first time in a bid to get the monkey off the back. From barrier six, they will be close enough to kick away and win.
