Sunshine Coast Horse Racing Preview, 6th December 2020

Sunday afternoon racing in Queensland returns to the Sunshine Coast this weekend. The first of six races is set to face the starter at 1pm. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out +5m for the entire course.

Best BetRace 4 – Dynamic Verse (#2) $7.50 with Sportsbet

Nat McCall has a great record on her home track, and we expect that form to continue on Sunday when Dynamic Verse resumes. The four-year-old gelding is a home track specialist, winning three times and placing at another four from just eight starts at Corbould Park. He goes great guns when fresh, and he’s had the benefit of a trial leading up to this which will see him fitter and ready to go. 1000m is his go, and with plenty of speed engaged, he’ll be the one sitting off them and charging late.

Next BestRace 5 – Maleeka Blues (#10) $2.45 with Sportsbet

Being trained on course is a huge advantage anywhere, but horses seem to thrive at the Sunshine Coast. One horse who is proof in the pudding, is David Vandykes classy mare, Maleeka Blues. Having never missed a place at the Sunshine Coast, Maleeka Blues resumes off a 7 week freshen up in what looks a winnable Class 1 Plate for Fillies & Mares. She only narrowly broke her maiden in September when $1.18 favourite, before being pulled up at Ipswich. She was given a soft time of it at the trials recently, and she gains Ryan Maloney’s class here which is a big plus, given he has ridden her twice before, including her only win and is striking at 39% with Vandyke. Expect to see her in the winner’s stall again.

Best ValueRace 3 – Better Rush (#8) $3.40 with Sportsbet

Chris Munce and Travis Wolfgram combine again with Better Rush who comes off a runner-up effort at Ballina last start. The three-year-old filly is looking to break her maiden here with a win at start 8, after boasting some credible form around the likes of Queen Kay and One Shy Ruby. The 1000m journey is likely to suit her here, plus she maps beautifully from barrier 4 to sit on the leader’s hammer. This looks her race.
