Sunshine Coast horse betting preview
We are racing under lights on Friday night at the Sunshine Coast. The track will be rated a Good 4, with the rail out +3m for the entire circumference. Race one jumps at 6pm, while the last will be off at 9pm. There are a few short-priced favourites throughout the seven-race card, so we will be looking to play around them and find you a bit more value to fill our pockets for Saturday.
We are going to keep you waiting until the last on the card, but we think it will be worth it as Garnett Taylor’s three-year-old gelding lines up in his second race start. After finishing second to I Am Swerving on debut at Eagle Farm, he will be so much better for the run now with race day experience under his belt. Ron Stewart takes the ride and they’ve drawn to do no work from barrier one, which will be key given they should be able to dictate and hold out the rest. Back When has had three trials at this course where he has either placed or won, so there will be no excuses about him not handling the big track. He looks a perfect play in the last.

Friday afternoon, get home from work, crack open a cold one and put the races on before the footy – Why Wouldn’t You? While not only does Stuart Kendrick’s entire look well named for the first on a Friday night, he also looks exceptionally well placed to break his duck. Although he has only placed in two starts from 10 attempts, he has been knocking on the door and is consistent each time he steps out. There looks to be no speed in this, so Jake Bayliss will hopefully use the inside gate effectively to lead, stack them up and kick away. Staying at 1400m will suit, and he can get punters off to a flyer.

Billy Healy and Jimmy Orman combine in race six with in-form mare, Don’tdie Wondering. A winner of two on the trot last prep before spelling, she was a good trial winner at this track two weeks ago in preparation for this. She has placed first up in the past and absolutely flies over 1000m, which she gets here. Odds-on favourite Lyrical Girl has also accepted at Doomben on Saturday and is expected to take that route instead, which brings our selection right into play here. She will show enough early toe from gate three to lead from barrier to box.
