Sunshine Coast betting preview – February 5, 2021
Friday night racing will be run and won as per usual at the Sunshine Coast this week. Seven races will be conducted on what is currently a Soft 7, with the rail in the +3m position. Race 1 is set to jump at 6:15pm local time.
Best Bet: Makedon
Four-year-old gelding Makedon simply loves the Sunshine Coast, with two wins and a minor placing from five starts at the track. Over 1800m at Class 2 level looks ideal for the Gary Duncan-trained runner, who has been good to punters this campaign. He shouldn’t be too far away in the run from barrier two and is advantaged due to Jerry Zanda’s wide gate. He’ll be going home slightly the better here we hope.

Next Best: Lucifer’s Loot
Nat McCall and Tiff Brooker combine in the second with Lucifer’s Loot, who was an impressive winner here a fortnight ago as a well-backed commodity. From barrier seven, the three-year-old gelded son of Rich Enuff will likely cross over with stablemate Magic Delta, who looks the only logical danger. If Lucifer’s Loot runs up to his debut, he should win this.

Best Value: Alpendurada
Alpendurada gets conditions to suit in the penultimate and benefits from the booking of Michael Rodd, who could just about pick up a horse and carry it over the line to victory at the Sunshine Coast of late. The five-year-old Rothesay gelding has been progressing towards a win this campaign with a good third last time out at Eagle Farm behind Stylish Saga. Up to 1400m with sting out of the ground on a track where he has performed well in the past is the ideal recipe to see Rob Heathcote’s gelding back in the winner’s stall.
