HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst has previewed the eight-race card at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday and brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 5m for the entire course, so the track should play evenly on this rare midweek metropolitan meeting at Corbould Park. The first races is due to jump at 12:38pm AEST.
Sunshine Coast Best Bet: Dovetail Diva
Dovetail Diva had a fair bit of hype surrounding her prior to her debut victory at Doomben, where she was wide throughout and still won comfortably. The John Symonds & Sheila Laxon-trained two-year-old was then thrown in the deep end and held her own when fourth in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial on the Gold Coast, and then she just cut up after leading in the Listed Bill Carter Stakes to drop out and finish eighth of nine. The Headwater filly has been back to the trials, where she won by 9.5 lengths under perpetual partner Ron Stewart. From the outside alley, expect Dovetail Diva to lead and win comfortably as she drops back to midweek company.

Next Best at Sunshine Coast: Goldsborough
Gary Duncan’s three-year-old gelding Goldsborough has a pretty good win on his CV – a 0.75-length victory over Isotope in November. The son of Headwater has had seven starts for two wins, two seconds and two thirds, and he resumed with a tough win first-up over Aleysa’s Dream at the 1000m trip he faces again here. Aleysa’s Dream went back to Rockhampton and won well in Open company, so the fact that Goldsborough now stays at Class 3 level after a third to Kisukano should see him right in this. Drawn in barrier three for Ben Thompson, this gelding is likely to box seat and get an economical run before letting down in the straight. He can get another win on Wednesday.

Sunshine Coast Value Bet: Goldschlager
If you were on Goldschlager last start and didn’t see the race, don’t watch the replay. The Chris Munce-trained filly should probably have won or at least finished in the placings in her first-up run over the 1200m trip at this track, but she was denied a run and finished eighth, beaten only two lengths. The daughter of Deep Field has always shown some promise, with a five-length defeat to Isotope and Away Game at Listed level on her record. This three-year-old has been victorious second-up in the past when breaking her maiden, and she now stays at the same track and trip as last time out. Brad Stewart replaces Ryan Wiggins, and the wide barrier (10) should at least see her stay out of trouble and not get buried away on the rails like last time. She looks a great each-way play in the penultimate.
