Strathalbyn racing preview

For the final time in 2020, Strathalbyn hosts an eight-race card for punters to sink their teeth into. With the possibility of showers in the lead up to race day, we could be starting off on a track that rates worse than the Soft 5 we currently have, so keep that in mind. The first race is set to jump at 2:55pm ACST.

Best BetRace 4 – Exalted Traveller (#1) Get the best odds

We will be hoping the combination of Grant Young and Caitlin Jones can provide back-to-back victories with this seven-year-old gelding who broke a run of outs at Morphettville just over a week ago. Prior to that victory, he had been one of the more consistent gallopers in the state while always finding one better on the day. From barrier six, Jones should get him into a strong position just outside the leader. With race fitness and a little bit of confidence on his side, Exalted Traveller should be too good for this BM64 field as he steps back to the 1350m.

Next BestRace 6 – Get In The Bowl (#6) Get the best odds

Get In The Bowl has been racing in consistent form since returning from a spell with some well-spaced runs. The eight-year-old gelding’s last start at Murray Bridge saw him make plenty of ground on the leader in the home straight to go down half a length. On Wednesday he meets what looks to be a pretty thin BM52, and the form suggests he is a good chance to break a run of outs that has lasted over three-and-a-half years. The soft going will also help, as he has placed twice from three attempts in similar conditions.

Best ValueRace 8 – Minnamosa (#11) Get the best odds

Jess Giles and Eran Boyd combine in the final race of the day at Strathalbyn with Minnamosa, who nearly pulled off an incredible win at Gawler a fortnight ago despite a tortuous run in transit. Having been trapped four and five wide with no cover, the six-year-old mare hit the lead with 100m to go but was left vulnerable for someone to nab her in the shadows of the winning post. She did manage to put a gap on the rest of the field, however, and if she runs up to that effort here, she will be fighting out the finish at a nice price.
