Stony Creek races tips and betting preview for January 5 2021

Stony Creek race tips for January 5 2021

An eight race card at Stony Creek kicks off the week of racing in Victoria on Tuesday. The Stony Creek track is a Good 4 at the time of writing, but with plenty of rain forecast we might be looking towards a Soft/Heavy track on race day. The rail remains in the true position as it was for the meeting last Monday and considering it played quite fairly, we should be in for a competitive day of racing.

The first is set to jump at 1:30pm AEDT and we have given our free Stony Creek tips and best bets below. We also have Stony Creek odds comparison and fields available.

Best Bet: Race 5 #2 Kansino @ $2.00

Our best bet on the Stony Creek card comes in the opening leg of the quaddie where we are hoping the Maher & Eustace trained Kansino can build on his last start runner up performance. He’s a galloper who likes to be up on speed throughout and maps to sit outside the leader after drawing a wide barrier here. He comes to Stony Creek third up, and in his debut campaign he finished second when third up at Cranbourne over the mile. There looks to be a similar plan here getting to the mile third up, but this time Ethan Brown will be hoping he can get Kansino to finish one place better than what he did at Cranbourne with a nice on-pace victory.

Next Best: Race 4 #2 Golden Loop @ $1.70

The Mick Price trained Golden Loop was well held when runner up at Caulfield three weeks ago, but was doing her best work late when powering through the line. The three-year-old filly has been building to a maiden victory in this campaign with a third at Wangaratta prior to her run at Caulfield where she looked to have had plenty of excuses. From barrier eight, Jack Hill will look to get her settled with a bit of cover around midfield and with the step back from City grade to a country maiden, she looks well placed to break her maiden tag and prove hard to hold out with a nice turn of foot.

Best Value: Race 8 #13 Ally’s Reward @ $6.00

Allan Douch gets the services of Beau Mertens back aboard his eight-year-old mare Ally’s Reward where in two starts Mertens has yet to miss the quinella whilst onboard. Despite a poort wet track record, where she is a maiden from 14 starts on wet going, she looks to be racing in career best form finishing in the money on four of her last five runs, with a narrow win at Moe in that stretch. If she brings her recent form to Stony Creek she will be fighting out the finish without a doubt. Most racing bookmakers have the Douch-trained veteran at around the $6.50 quote.
