Stony Creek race meeting postponed

Poor air quality has prompted racing officials to postpone a scheduled race meeting at Stony Creek for 48 hours.

Racing Victoria and the Stony Creek Racing Club announced on Monday that Tuesday’s race meeting had been pushed back to Thursday.

Conditions will still be monitored in the coming days to determine whether the meeting goes ahead.

RV said the BOM had advised the poor air quality resulting from smoke from the Gippsland bushfires, was expected to remain on Tuesday but may improve by Thursday.

“The forecast indicates that the air quality may improve into Thursday due to an increase in winds,” RV said.

“However RV will continue to monitor the conditions over the next 48 hours to determine the meeting’s suitability to proceed later in the week.”

Racing NSW postponed Monday’s meeting at Albury on the Victorian border because of poor air quality in the area.
