Best Bet: Ginny Ann
We save our best until the last race when the Symon Wilde-trained Ginny Ann looks to build on her dominant win at Warracknabeal on May 15. In that race she settled three wide with no cover up on speed and still managed to put 4.5 lengths on her rivals in a truly breathtaking display. The mare has shown this campaign that she can be tactically versatile, having settled at the rear of the field first up at Hamilton when finishing second. From barrier four, we expect Joe Bowditch to have her in the one-one just off the speed. As long as she gets a little bit of luck at the top of the home straight, she should be putting a gap on this field.
Race 8 – Ginny Ann (#7)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1370111_08]
Next Best: Magic Murphy
Jason Warren saddles up Magic Murphy, who comes to Stawell with solid enough form to be a leading contender in this 2000m maiden. He ran on nicely from the rear of the field at Echuca on May 10 and looks well placed to do something similar here on Tuesday as Liam Riordan jumps on board for the first time. From barrier six, we expect him to try and settle him one or two pairs closer to the speed than what he was at Echuca. With a genuine tempo expect over the 2000m, we expect the son of Skilled to be savaging the line late and proving too hard to hold out.
Race 4 – Magic Murphy (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1370111_04]
Best Value: The Enzo
Nathan Hobson sends The Enzo to Stawell in a bid to get back into the winners’ stall following a narrow defeat at Bendigo on May 16. On the quick nine-day backup, the step up to the 1600m looks ideal this deep into a campaign. Zoe Lloyd retains the ride, and her 4kg claim on a genuine frontrunner could be the key. The Enzo’s win three starts back saw him settle outside the leader, and having drawn the middle of the field here, he could get put in a similar position before kicking clear at the top of the straight.
Race 6 – The Enzo (#3)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1370111_06]
