SINGAPORE-based jockey Corey Brown returns home to Australia this week and is seeking success at the highest level.

Brown has been offered the ride aboard Thames Court in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield and is hoping to ride more throughout the Melbourne spring carnival.

“I always like coming back for this sort of race and when I got the call I was happy to come and let people know I’m still around,” Brown said. “Australia is still home in a way and you want to be winning these group ones and perhaps get more rides during the carnival.”

The David Brideoake-trained Thames Court looked a winner in the Cockham Stakes and the Let’s Elope Stakes before being run down near the line. A big win looks in store this season and it looks a strong chance this Saturday with only 52kg on its back.

“I met David Brideoake when he was over here and it was good that he thought of me and she looks like a nice horse,” Brown said, who also talked with Craig Williams about its chances.

“Craig has a pretty good hold on the form in Melbourne and said she is capable of running a big race. She’s been a bit of a bridesmaid this time but she is in good form.

“She is going to run along and put herself in the race and with no weight on her back she will give a kick.”

Brown is hoping to return for the Group 1 Epsom Handicap next week where he is waiting for any light-weight opportunities to arise.

“It is an advantage I have that I can ride this light easily. I rode 51.5 kilos the other day and those bigger trainers are often looking for jockeys down in the weights and strong,” Brown said.

“It would be good to get another group one in Australia because it let’s people know you are around and available to come back.”

Thames Court opened at $19, but has drifted out to $21 at Sportsbet.
