Seymour quaddie tips & specials for Thursday, September 7
WE head 100km north of Melbourne to Seymour for this week’s quaddie as the rural city hosts a nine-race card on Thursday afternoon.
Last week we nailed three of the four legs at Wagga, but missed out on the second race of the quaddie after a late firmer sunk our ship.
We move on quickly however and Seymour presents us with a fresh chance to bleed those bookies dry.
Race six on the card is the Insuremyfleet.com.au benchmark 64 over the 1600m trip, which kicks off the quaddie at 3.30 pm.
Race 6 – Insuremyfleet.com.au BM64 (1600m)
Press Release is a highly touted mare that has already recorded two wins at this distance in its career to date. Last time out at Moe it won handsomely as an outsider in the market and should be much closer to the head of affairs today jumping from barrier four.
Canadienne returns to Seymour where it recorded its maiden win three-weeks-ago in commanding fashion. The three-year-old ticks a lot of boxes on its return to the track on Thursday and could be another Godolphin filly to watch heading into the future.
Mare Try Pink gets a fantastic opportunity to break through for its second career win on Thursday. Under Beau Mertens, jumping from barrier five and returning to a distance where it has won once and placed another across three runs bodes well for the five-year-old which should be right in the mix at the post.
Race 6 quaddie tips: 5, 6 and 8
Race 7 – Zurich Insurance AU BM64 (1414m)
Hat-trick seeking Ruary Mac is racing in the best form of its career and returns to a familiar track which has yielded success. The 57-race veteran has recorded back-to-back wins in similar grades and returns to a distance where it has performed well in the past.
Black Sail shook the maiden tag at the second time of asking at Echuca as a short-priced favourite in the last week of August and if that form holds up it will go well again on Thursday. The colt jumps from an inside barrier the three-year-old can utilise its early speed to find a prominent position in the running. The three-year-old looks progressive and could potentially become a black-type runner.
We are forgiving Angelic Spirit’s last start sixth at Sandown three-weeks-ago in an oddly run race. Instead, we are looking to the debut at Sale when filly won as a short-priced favourite. We are banking on the three-year-old to get some good cover from barrier seven and unleash in the straight just as it did on debut.
Race 7 quaddie tips: 2, 7 and 8
Race 8 – BOQ Finance BM70 (1200m)
Bon’s Away looks to be a star of the future and after recording its second-straight win at Mildura a hat-trick seems a formality. From barrier four it gets the perfect cart into the race and we find it hard to mount a case as to why it cannot win.
Heza Magic Man is looking to maintain its own great run of form after winning twice and placing a further two times across its last five runs. The horse stays at its pet distance, which has delivered two wins and two placings across seven runs. The gelding loves the sprint trip and will be aided by gate five.
Light ‘N’ Fire is second up on Thursday where it has previously won in the past. Upon resumption it finished seventh of 12 runners at Echuca on August 21, but given it has failed to place on three previous first-up attempts we are looking past that. Prior to being turned out in November of last year the son of Blevic had recorded three wins and a second place from four runs. The Weir runner knows how to win.
Race 8 quaddie tips: 2, 7 and 9
Race 9 – Seymour Toyota BM64 (1100m)
All About Nicci is racing in tremendous form since returning from a nine month break back in July. The mare won on resumption as a despised outsider at Echuca before finishing behind classy runner As Bad As Tyson at Wodonga. The horse is now fresh off a shorter lay off and will be ready to win once again.
Zelamore is the textbook definition of a hit-or-miss runner. In its 13 race career the horse has won three times but only placed a solitary time outside those successes. On Thursday it returns to a distance where it has recorded two of those wins and that placing and looks well placed to hit hard at Seymour from barrier four.
Weir runner Streets Of Liberty is looking to recapture the form which saw it finish second and record back-to-back wins in its opening three races. The horse is second-up after an average showing at Warranmbool at the tail end of August, but it has won at this stage of its preparation in the past. Jumping from barrier one will not be an issue given its a leading type and it has the potential to get back to its winning ways on Thursday.
