Jockey Sean Cormack has had his momentum halted by injury but hopes to get a medical clearance.

In-form jockey Sean Cormack will visit a doctor on Monday to determine how long he will be out of the saddle after injuring a knee.

Cormack was taken to hospital after being dislodged from a horse at Ipswich on Friday.

He injured a knee while trying to restrain the horse from galloping away.

Cormack missed the Doomben meeting on Saturday and the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

His manager Cameron Partington said it was hoped Cormack would only miss a week with the injury.

“He will go to the doctor again on Monday and see if he needs an MRI. But it looks better than first feared. We will know more on Monday,” Partington said.

A Group One-winning jockey in his native South Africa, Cormack recently reignited his career in Queensland after health issues kept him from riding for two years.
