First Race 12:45pm AEST

An eight-race card is scheduled for Scone Race Club on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie selections with odds from Australia’s best bookies. The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail in the true position, and the meeting is set to get underway at 12:45pm AEST.

Scone Best Bet: Freedom Square

In the second leg of the quaddie, the Paul Messara-trained Freedom Square returns from a near 12-month spell and looks well placed to resume with a win. The lightly raced four-year-old showed plenty of potential in his initial campaign with a win and a second-place finish from his two career runs to date, both here at Scone. The son of Panzer Division will look to get back in the field and run on from barrier 14, and with two trials under his belt prior to this first-up run, there should be no excuses on Tuesday afternoon.

Best BetRace 6 – Freedom Square (#2) $3.50 with Ladbrokes

Next Best Bet at Scone: Alight The Knight

The Brett Cavanough-trained Alight The Knight returns to the Scone 1600m having finished second at this track and distance behind Intense Passion on August 12. While she could not peg back the big margin on that day, she showed enough to suggest she will take some beating at her next start. The three-year-old Smart Missile filly has begun her career with consecutive runner-up results and looks one of the better bets on the program, despite her rival Giesel expected to go around as favourite in this race. Ashley Morgan sticks on board, which is a bonus, and from barrier six should get a cosy run midfield with cover. If Alright The Knight can see daylight at the key stage, she should be too strong to hold out.

Next BestRace 4 – Alight The Knight (#12) $7.50 with Ladbrokes

Best Value Bet at Scone: Knight Driver

Clint Lundholm’s Knight Driver heads to Scone having been well beaten in a strong Highway Class 3 at Randwick on July 31. Prior to that result she had strung together consecutive wins and a runner-up to begin her campaign, and she should appreciate the drop in grade back to midweek level. Under Ashley Morgan, the four-year-old Dream Ahead mare should get a quiet time of it out in front dictating terms. She has shown a natural will to win and should prove too speedy over the 1000m, so the double-figure quote looks terrific value.

Best ValueRace 7 – Knight Driver (#11) $12 with Sportsbet
