An eight-race card is scheduled for Scone Race Club on Thursday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst presents his best bets, and free quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 5, the rail is set in the true position, and racing is scheduled to get underway at 12:40pm AEST.

Scone Best Bet: Narrated

Our best bet on the Scone card comes up in the second event, when the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Narrated steps out over 1700m. The four-year-old Snitzel mare was beaten 1.5 lengths at Goulburn on July 17 having led the field up over 1400m on a Heavy 10. The step up to 1700m third-up from a spell looks ideal, and from barrier four we anticipate Christian Reith will look to find the front of the field from the gates and dictate terms throughout. Narrated’s win at Nowra first-up was utterly dominant when scoring by over three lengths, and if she brings that sort of performance to Scone, it is hard to see how her rivals run her down.

Best BetRace 2 – Narrated (#7) $1.80 with Sportsbet

Next Best Bet at Scone: Capital Reign

In the opening leg of the quaddie, we are siding with the Gary Portelli-trained Capital Reign as he resumes from a 15-week spell. The three-year-old son of Capitalist showed plenty of potential in his juvenile campaign and will make sure this 900m sprint is a genuinely run affair. He won on debut at Canberra over 1000m when leading the whole way, getting up by 2.5 lengths despite doing plenty wrong in the running. From barrier four under Alysha Collett, he should have no issue in finding the rails – where it is no disadvantage to be over at the 900m at Scone – and should ultimately prove too hard to catch.

Next BestRace 5 – Capital Reign (#3) $2.90 with Sportsbet

Best Value Bet at Scone: Moetta

The Rodney Northam-trained Moetta looked to be desperately unlucky at Randwick on July 31; she was badly held up until the 100m, but once the mare found clear air, she looked to have plenty left in the tank. From barrier seven, we expect apprentice Reece Jones to have her in the running line with plenty of space in front of her. Jones’ 2kg claim gets them in with just 55.5kg, so we should see Moetta hit the line with real intent in the penultimate race of the day.

Best ValueRace 7 – Moetta (#3) $6.50 with Sportsbet
