Queensland metropolitan racing heads to Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday for an ultra-competitive nine-race program set for decision. The rail is out +2m the entire circuit, and with only a minor chance of rain predicted, we’re confident the Good 4 surface currently listed will hold. The first race is set to get underway at 11:58am AEST.
Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Chernak
Chernak is racing in supreme order and is seeking his third-straight for the Chris Waller barn. Since having a letup in the middle of July the five-year-old gelding has put together back-to-back wins at Eagle Farm, with his latest a dominant 3.3-length demolition of his rivals on September 2. The son of Dariyan only gets a 1kg penalty for the win staying in BM78 company, and from barrier two on Saturday, Chernak should get every chance to bring up his fifth-career victory.

Next Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Show Me Mercy
Show Me Mercy is an undefeated three-year-old trained by Stuart Kendrick and was a terrific returning winner at Sunshine Coast on August 27. He cruised through the line for a solid victory, going on to score by 2.3 lengths in the five-horse field, proving to have lost no ability despite the lengthy 273-day spell. 3kg claiming apprentice Bailey Wheeler is set to take the reins again from an awkward draw (8); however, provided Show Me Mercy gains cover on the three-wide line turning for home, this progressive gelding by Astern should prove very hard to beat.

Best Value at Eagle Farm: Bedford Square
Bedford Square will finally be getting out to her most suitable trip on Saturday, and it’s a terrific time to be backing her on the each-way basis. The six-year-old mare has been monstering the line over 1400m in her last two starts, showing she hasn’t lost her turn-of-foot when peaking in the run. Now’s the perfect opportunity for the daughter of Tavistock to get out to the 1600m, and with a soft gate (4) to give jockey Melea Castle all the options, we think Bedford Square can find the winner’s enclosure for the first time since February of 2022.
