Eagle Farm is the feature Queensland metropolitan meeting on Saturday afternoon, and we’ve got a massive 10-race card to be contested. We should have the only non-weather-affected track come Saturday afternoon with little to no rain forecast across the region, so the currently listed Good 4 track should be what we’re racing on this weekend. The rail is out 4m for the entire circuit, so look for jockeys to be getting wider on the track throughout the card. Proceedings get underway at 12:38pm AEST.
Best Bet: Stellar Magic
We’re with Stellar Magic for the Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted yard as our best bet of the day at Eagle Farm. She comes here first-up in outstanding order after trialling very nicely on October 4 at this track over 800m. As a three-year-old she faced much tougher opposition in Listed races behind horses like Athelric back on June 4, and Zapateo prior to that on May 14. She was by no means disgraced in those efforts and she finds perfect conditions to run well this weekend. With a superior track record, only missing the frame once in six starts, Eagle Farm is her home stomping ground. Ben Thompson can find a midfield sit on this Star Turn mare from the inside draw and be storming home late to win at a very nice price with online bookmakers.

Next Best Bet: Me Me Lagarde
We must wait until the last race of the day for our next best, but it should be worth it for Me Me Lagarde. She’s going much better than the market is giving her credit for going into this race. Forget she even went around on the Heavy track first-up at the Gold Coast on September 17, as she was never suited by the conditions, but Saturday looks a completely different matter. Going back into her form two preps ago, she smashed Far Too Easy over 1200m at Eagle Farm in December of last year, and that horse is now a favoured runner in this weekend’s Kosciuszko at Randwick. Also, she was luckless not to beat a horse called King Of Sparta over 1400m the start after. She’s only seen Heavy tracks since, and with a nice firm deck expected for Saturday, we’ll finally see the best of this girl by Star Turn. Andrew Mallyon will be last turning for home from the gate, but don’t let that deter you from backing this mare – she’s a great bet at each-way odds.

Best Value Bet: Irish Homie
Our best value runner of the meeting comes nice and early with Irish Homie in race two. This overseas import is having his third start in Australia since joining the Bevan Laming stable, and this looks like a strong chance to get his first win for the camp. This gelding by Sir Percy looks to be looking for further distance after runs at the 1350m and 1400m where in both he was beaten less than 1.5 lengths. The 1600m here in a Class 3 handicap looks a great setup for him to show the staying ability he was known for in Europe. Michael Cahill has drawn a soft gate to go find the one-by-one and be travelling at the turn to make his run, and he can salute at a nice each-way price.
