Satirical Dame breaks maiden at start 27 at Wyong
SATIRICAL Dame proved there is truth to the saying ‘every dog has its day’ when breaking through for its first victory at start 27 at Wyong on Thursday afternoon.
Trained at Randwick by Jim and Greg Lee, Satirical Dame was sent to the barriers as a $34 chance and settled mid-field under the guidance of Glyn Schofield.
From the 600m mark the four-year-old mare began creeping closer and upon entering the straight had worked her way into third spot.
Half was down the straight Satirical Dame slipped into top gear, hitting the lead in the shadows of the post to defeat Bucasia by one quarter of a length, with Star Princess rounding out the trifecta back in third.

Tears Of Gold, which started as the $1.50 favourite, lead but weakened in the run to the line, finishing a disappointing fifth, two and a half lengths off the winner.
However, all honours were with the winner, with delighted stable rep Henry Kerehi full of praise for the daughter of Henny Hughes and Satirical Impact (x Distorted Humour).
“If there was a horse that deserved to win a race it would have to be her,” Kerehi told Horse Betting.
“We thought she had a chance coming here today. She trialled quite good and she had a jump out on Friday which we were pleased with – her work has been very good leading up to today.”
Having previously run six placings, Satirical Dame has now taken her career earnings over the $50,000 mark.
Kerehi said the team had been very patient with the chestnut mare, but that Satricial Dame has always looked like she was good enough to win a race.
“She’s bumped into a lot of very good horses throughout her career. Fair enough she’s had her share of chances, 27 of them, but she has done the job today and has beaten an-odds on favourite, so well done to her.”
With no immediate plans moving forward, Kerehi said a suitable race would be found for Satirical Dame as she now aims to make it two on the trot.
