Santa’s Stocking Fillers – tips and form for Narromine

Christmas stocking fillers

WITH only a week until Christmas, punters will be needing their stockings filled with plenty of cash for the festive season.

For the next six days Santa will be providing his best racing tips and he has selected Narromine as his course of choice this Monday.

It’s a rare occurrence to see only two Australian thoroughbred meetings on a Monday, but the early start at Narromine means that punters can get a head start on the week of racing.

Narromine Race 1 – Midnight Mission

It’s not easy for Santa to deliver all the presents in one night and it’s quite often a midnight mission.

We couldn’t look past the five-year-old grey which would look good at the helm of Santa’s sleigh. He’s a last start winner which took nine starts to secure his first maiden win, but it looks a good chance of making it two on the bounce.

Rob Potter lines up the son of Alert and it should get every chance from the inside barrier.

$2.30 with Neds.com.au is a nice start to Santa’s stocking filler Monday.

Narromine Race 2 – Woodbine Miss

There has been no Christmas joy for Woodbine Miss followers over the last few years, but leave out the milk and cookies and Santa might come with a gift at Narromine.

The time is nigh for the six-year-old mare which has failed to win a race from its first 20 attempts. During that time she has placed on six occasions, which is a positive, and she comes into this race with a placing at Orange.

Formerly Victorian based, it looks more at home at Mudgee and we think Rudolph might have his eye (or nose) on Woodbine Miss at $2.70 with CrownBet.

Narromine Race 4 – Bel Diablo

Bel Diablo translates to “Beautiful Devil” and this runner certainly took the eye of Vixen, Santa’s most mischievous reindeer.

She has a good eye for picking quality thoroughbreds as Bel Diablo looks ready to win and punters have already backed it significantly in morning markets.

The David Smith-trained three-year-old was a winner in June before meeting some tough opposition at Orange and Scone. That experience was vital as it then ran fourth in the Highway Handicap at Rosehill behind Equal Balance.

That was one of the strongest highway races this season and although he wasn’t able to win last start as the $2 favourite, punters should be getting their money back at a better price of $2.25 at Neds after opening at $2.75.

Narromine Race 6 – Sister Joy

What would Christmas be without some religious festivities?

Sister Joy knows how important getting a win on the board for punters will be this Monday and she might deliver at a big price.

The Mark Schmetzer-trained five-year-old finished ninth at Tamworth last start, but it would have needed the run second-up.

The daughter of Al Maher is a three-time winner from 26 starts, but don’t let that poor winning record fool you. She has plenty of talent on her day and the odds are appealing.

$19 is available at Sportsbet.com.au after opening at $26.
