Sandown tips: best bets for Easter Monday, April 22

There’s no rest for the wicked at Horse Betting HQ over the Easter period as we deliver your Monday betting tips and best bets for Sandown.

We’ve taken a look at the full eight race card to deliver your betting strategy for the afternoon, which includes our best bet, best roughie and tips for the remainder of the day.

Let’s take a look at who we’re backing in.

Race 1 – Ladbrokes Handicap (1000m)

Absolute Flirt resumes here and looks the hardest to beat in a field filled with first starters.

The horse had great form before being turned out, finishing second behind subsequent Group 2 winner Yes Yes Yes, which bodes well for a strong run.

The filly gets in well at the weights, has a good gate and Olly on board.

Race 2 – BM64 (1000m)

Miss Street is on one hell of a hot streak, winning four-straight races.

The mare won last start at BM70 level against the girls as a short-priced favourite, hammering the field by just over two lengths.

On Monday Miss Street carries a huge 65kg but with Michael Poy on board claiming 3kg it makes it a more manageable weight. We’re backing the mare to make it five in a row.

Race 3 – BM64 (1300m)

Feather delivered a slightly disappointing performance as a favourite at Pakenham, finishing second behind fellow hot-pot Persian Empire.

This looks a chance to bounce back here, taking in the same weight and an ideal gate. Dwayne Dunn takes the ride once again which will be hugely beneficial.

We’re backing Feather in.

Race 4 -BM64 (2200m)

Skyway Star is looking to go back-to-back after a dominant win to break the maiden.

The filly was brilliant at Ballarat, winning by just shy of two and a half lengths in what looked on paper to be a competitive event. The only concern is barrier 13 but she’s drawn well in the weights and looks hard to beat.

Race 5 – BM64 (1300m)

Diamond Bliss comes into this race following a resuming fourth in a competitive benchmark 64 contest.

Despite not making the placings as a top elect the filly comes into this event hoping to maintain an unbeaten record second-up. Another horse that draws poorly in the barriers but we think Diamond Bliss has enough in the tank to take this one out.

Race 6 – BM70 (1300m)

Begood Toya Mother is hunting a hattrick here and looks well placed to continue the strong run.

The horse won sharply at just under this rating last start at Pakenham and actually drops 1kg following that performance at BM64 level.

Back Begood Toya Mother to win and register a third-straight win.

Race 7 – BM78 (2400m)

Bass made his Australian debut at Pakenham on April 10, only just missing out by a nose at benchmark 64 level.

The run under the belt will hold him in great stead coming into this one and the record in Japan second-up is sound with the gelding recording one win from as many attempts.

We’re making Bass our best bet of the day.

Race 8 – BM74 (1400m)

Zouy’s Comet is our best roughie of the day.

After resuming with a huge win at Cranbourne on April 5, Zouy’s Comet draws an ordinary gate to make it three in a row, but the horse has a great second-up record and drops 1.5kg from that last-start success.

Back Zouy’s Comet in the last event of the day.
