First Race 12:25pm AEST

The Lakeside course at Sandown is set to host an eight-race card on Wednesday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian tipster presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 7 with the rail out 7m for the entire circuit, and racing is scheduled to get underway at 12:25pm AEST.

Sandown Best Bet: Rockribbed

Our best bet on the program comes up in the third race with the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Rockribbed. The three-year-old Night Of Thunder gelding started his career with a win at Donald on debut, then followed it up with a close second on the Hillside track on May 26 when seemingly held up for a run at crucial point early in the home straight. With an eight-week freshen up between runs, he should be screwed down perfectly for this task. Teo Nugent takes the ride and will look to settle outside the leader from barrier three, and with luck taken out of the equation Rockribbed should be bringing up his second win from three starts to begin his career.

Next Best at Sandown: Just As Soon

Anthony & Sam Freedman bring their four-year-old mare Just As Soon back to Sandown following a smart win at this track and distance on June 30. She has shown a liking to wet tracks, recording two wins and a minor placing from four starts on rain-affected going. Jumping from barrier 11, the daughter of Just A Way will need a bit of luck early on to find a spot in the first six with cover, but if she is afforded that, she should be too good for this lot.

Next BestRace 2 – Just As Soon (#12) $7 with Sportsbet

Sandown Value Bet: Big Brew

The Mark Kavanagh-trained Big Brew returns to the Lakeside course at Sandown following a close second behind Lady In The Sky on the Hillside track on July 7 and presents good value in the second leg of the quaddie. The five-year-old son of Magnus managed to beat home the handy Murrumbidgee River at his last start, and considering it could be a good day to be up on speed, he could prove hard to run down. Visiting South Australian apprentice Jacob Opperman hops on board with his 2kg claim and from barrier 12 will look to go forward, dictate terms and kick clear to salute at a nice price.

Next BestRace 6 – Big Brew (#5) $13 with Sportsbet
