Sandown Best Bet – Murrami Express

We will be hoping the Danny O’Brien-trained Murrami Express can break a run of outs when he steps out over 1400m on Wednesday. With three minor placings to begin this campaign, the three-year-old son of Shamexpress has been looking for further and the step from 1200m to 1400m fourth-up from a spell looks to be the recipe for success. Despite being sent around as a favourite in both of his last two starts, we are willing to give him another chance here as he looks to be well-placed by O’Brien. From barrier two under Jamie Kah, Murrami Express is expected to get the run of the race, and on a day where it may be advantageous to be close to the speed early on, he should prove too hard to hold out.

Next Best at Sandown – Bronzba

There is a fair bit of the unknown about the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jr-trained Bronzba, who managed to break her Australian maiden at Geelong last time out. The four-year-old Complacent mare had won smartly on debut in New Zealand last year and in her one run in Australia last spring failed to make much of an impression. However, her win at Geelong suggests she has come back in much better form, and the step up to the mile at Sandown looks to suit. With a win on Heavy and firmer grounds, we know Bronzba will handle any conditions thrown at her. Armed with a lightning turn of foot, she should prove too hard to hold out at a nice price.

Best Value at Sandown – Changing Tracks

Paul & Tracey Templeton took Changing Tracks to Flemington on January 21 and she absolutely bolted in, and we anticipate she will do something similar on Wednesday. The six-year-old mare out of Written Tycoon took a sit just off the speed and when asked for an effort quickened nicely and proved simply too good for that field. The field she meets at Sandown is no harder than the one at Flemington, hence why she looks to be such a good bet. From barrier 11, Craig Newitt will look to get Changing Tracks to settle either outside the leader or one pair back. If afforded that luxury, she has a nice turn of foot and, despite needing to lug 61kg, should prove too good for her rivals once again. The $9 on offer at Sportsbet looks overs.
