Sandown-Hillside race betting preview
An eight race card is set down for judgement on Monday afternoon as the Easter long weekend of racing comes to an end at Sandown on the Hillside track. With the track coming up a Good 4 and the rail out 10m the entire we are set fair for a top day of metropolitain racing on Easter Monday. Racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEST with the last set to go at 5:20pm AEST.
Best Bet: #5 Excelleration
The Richard Cully-trained Excelleration was utterly dominant first up from a spell on March 24 on the Lakeside track where he let down strongly from the rear of the field and put them away with ease. The Lakeside track tends to not suit backmarkers when the rail is out 9m, so it made the win even more impressive, so it gives us no reason to jump off him in a bid to make it two from two this prep and three wins from four starts to begin his career. Excelleration drops half a kilo from his last start success and looks perfectly placed when stepping up to the mile second up from a spell. With a slick turn of foot he will be too good for this field in the last event of the day.
Race 8 – Excelleration (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1365133_08]
Next Best: #6 Sirileo Miss
If Excelleration was dominant on March 24 on the Lakeside track, then Sirileo Miss was equally as dominant earlier on in the card. The Simon Wilde-trained Pride Of Dubai filly gave the leaders a fair start upon settling, but powered past her rivals over the final furlong and showed plenty to suggest there is plenty to like about her. From barrier three, under riding from Melissa Julius and her 3kg claim she looks hard to hold out. Expect Sirileo Miss to settle towards the rear of the field and be flying home to bring up her third win from four starts and consecutive wins to start her campaign.
Race 6 – Sirileo Miss (#6)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1365133_06]
Best Value: #11 D’jumbuck
The Brian McGrath-trained D’jumbuck was desperately unlucky to not bring up a second win in three starts when getting nosed out on the Lakeside track back on March 17. Three runs back the Starspangledbanner gelding won impressively when beating Captain Spud who came out and smashed his rivals on Saturday at Caulfield. Will Price sticks on board D’jumbuck and with his 2kg claim from barrier expect the pair to be up there fighting for the lead and holding out the backmarkers in the shadows of the winning post.
Race 7 – D’Jumbuck (#11)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1365133_07]
