What Sandown Hillside Races
Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171
When Wednesday, July 7, 2021
First Race 12:25pm AEST

The Hillside track at Sandown is set to host an eight-part card on Wednesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and top quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Heavy 8 with the rail out 4m for the entire circuit, and the action is set to get underway at 12:25pm AEST.

Sandown Best Bet: Videmantte

Travelling across from Hobart is the Scott Brunton-trained Videmanette, who has strung together three wins from her past four starts. With a strong wet-track record (6:3-2-0) that includes a win at her sole start on Heavy going, the Tasmanian looks a clear best bet on the Sandown card despite the $6 quote with some leading online bookmakers. David Pires comes across to the mainland for just this one ride, and considering the pair combined for 3.5-length victory at Devonport, the Al Maher mare looks perfectly placed. Expect Pires to look for cover in the first five or six, and when asked for an effort, this mare should put this BM64 away with a touch of ease.

Best BetRace 2 – Videmantte (#10) $6 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Sandown: Our Muskateer

The Jerome Hunter-trained Our Muskateer comes to Sandown on the back of a forgive run at Mornington on June 14. Having been beaten when cornering, the four-year-old gelding is set to appreciate the 4kg drop in weight from Celine Gaudray’s claim for this effort on Wednesday. From barrier 10, we expect Gaudray to look for the rails and dictate terms, similar to this guy’s win at Moe on May 18, and if he is allowed to do so, he could take some catching with just 52.5kg on his back – 1.5 kg under the minimum weight.

Next BestRace 6 – Muskateer (#5) $6 with Bet365

Sandown Value Bet: Zimowy

The Ken Keys-trained Zimowy enters the penultimate race at Sandown with consecutive victories to her name, and we expect her mare to make it three wins in succession. Craig Newitt has been aboard for the Polanski mare’s past two wins and retains the ride here. On June 23 at Cranbourne, she managed to lead the field up and kick clear in the home straight to score by three lengths in a dominant all-the-way win. Zimowy goes up just 2kg on Wednesday, but if she can dictate terms under a well-rated steer from Newitt, there’s no reason she cannot take out the third leg of quaddie.

Best ValueRace 7 – Zimowy (#9) $8.50 with Sportsbet
