The Hillside track at Sandown will play host to an eight-race program on Wednesday afternoon on a predicted Soft 6 surface. There are some quality trainers putting their horses around, too, with the likes of Maher & Eustace, James Cummings and Chris Waller all engaging in the opener in 12:25pm AEST. The quaddie legs will start at 2:45pm in a race that sees many chances. We will be going wide in the quaddie legs and hoping for a value runner to salute at some stage.
BEST BEST: MANASA (Race 6)
The Busuttin & Young stable presents this four-year-old mare who is racing in pretty good form. She ran on quite well for second at Pakenham last week over 1400m and she deserves a chance at midweek grade, and this race isn’t that much harder than her last race. She steps up to the 1800m, but the team obviously thinks that’s no issue, and being in a large field, there may be mid race pace on, which will suit her strong finish.

BEST VALUE BET: GYMNASTICS (Race 3)
Damien Oliver combines again with the James Cummings stable with a filly who comes over from New South Wales. She is not going to be a big price but we think there may be some value with some other quality horses in this event and due to her drawing poorly in 14. She ran a nice third at good odds (16-1) three runs back, before winning by 0.8 lengths after running on well down the outside at Hawkesbury. Her latest outing finished with a fourth after plugging away over the final 200m at Goulburn. Her win was on a Soft 6 surface to the track should play into her hooves nicely.
