Sportsbet opened a top five and top ten betting market for this year’s big one, and not long after the online agency put up a same-race multi option for every horse in the Cup.

Every single horse that is in the running has been included in this market, and customers can choose to include the runners to finish in the top-15, top-10 and the top-5.

Almandin to finish inside the top-5

Everything seems to be falling into place for German import Almandin, which is hoping to be the first horse to win multiple Melbourne Cups since Makybe Diva.

The lead-in form is spectacular, the horse has great two-mile form and barrier 14 will be no issue for the Robert Hickmott-trained gelding.

Back Almandin in to at least finish inside the top five with full confidence.

Big Duke to finish inside the top-10

Big Duke
Big Duke should be able to stay the two miles better than most in the Melbourne Cup

Irish import Big Duke has several factors in its favour going into the 2017 Melbourne Cup.

The Weir-trained galloper has placed before over the 3200m earlier this year in the Sydney Cup, recorded a brilliant win in the Group One Metropolitan and ran a gallant fourth in the Moonee Valley Cup despite confronting a race tempo that did not suit.

Unlike other imports too Big Duke has been in Australia for well over a year, and has raced in Melbourne several times in the past.

A top ten finish seems a lock for the stayer.

Single Gaze to finish inside the top-10

Single Gaze

The five-year-old mare Single Gaze is close to Australia’s best chance of taking out the Melbourne Cup, and a top ten finish in the race that stops a nation is not out of the question.

In the horse’s 28 race career only once has it finished outside the top ten, and its last start second in the Caulfield Cup was fabulous at huge odds.

The odds are big on Single Gaze because there are doubts around the horse’s ability to stay the journey, but this plucky mare has confronted every task ahead of it with aplomb so far, so why should we doubt it now?

A top-ten finish seems well within Single Gaze’s grasp.
