Sale Races 20th December Horse Betting Preview
On Sunday afternoon there is an eight race card at Sale for punters to sink their teeth into as another weekend wraps up and the countdown to Christmas is whittling down day by day. With light showers scheduled until race day, the Soft 5 may stick around for the duration of the meeting, but it still would not hurt doing form around a Good 4 as well. With the rail out to the 4m mark, every runner should get their chance on Sunday afternoon.
The first race at Sale will face the starter at 1:20pm AEDT.
We will be hoping that the Tony McEvoy trained mare Night Passage can be the first of two McEvoy trained specials to salute for the punters on Sunday at Sale. Her first two runs in town this campaign has been respectable and has run into the money on both occasions, but is set to find this a touch easier than those two runs at Moonee Valley. She gets Luke Currie back on board for this assignment, and from barrier three maps to get a beautiful run in transit. The slight query is she tends to over-race in the middle of the race, so if she can settle nicely we do not see much being able to hold her out in the opening leg of the quaddie.

We’re tipping it will be a big day for the Tony McEvoy stable as we are quite keen on their four-year-old mare Goolagong Rose. Her first up run at Moonee Valley was impressive and certainly lost no admirers in a Class 1 over the 955m sprint and she looks to be a progressive mare in the making. The extra 150m she is set to get here at Sale will only benefit her as her racing pattern as she is a galloper who tends to settle towards the top end of the field and from barrier four should have no issues in getting to the front, dictating terms and kicking in the home straight to build on her impressive record to date.

Steven Pateman and Clayton Douglas will look to build on the impressive form that Lion’s Share has shown since her resumption from a spell this campaign. She was an impressive winner when travelling up on pace last time out at Geelong and she maps to get a similar run in transit as she did that day. There does not look to be much speed in the race which will suit Lion Share’s racing pattern and if that’s the case she looks hard to hold out at a nice each-way price.
