Sale horse racing preview – Tuesday, March 16

An eight-race card at Sale on Tuesday afternoon kicks off another week of racing in Victoria. The track has come up a Soft 5 on the back of plenty of rain over the weekend, but with clear skies forecasted leading up to the day we should be racing on a Good 4 at some point. The is rail out 7m for the entire circuit, so it may pay to see how the track plays in the first couple of races before investing throughout the card. Racing at Sale is set to get underway at 1:30pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Limited Vision

Mark Zahra heads to Sale for just the two rides on Tuesday, one of those being the Anthony Freedman-trained Limited Vision. The son of Lonhro made his debut back in November at Geelong when finishing midfield and was quickly put away for an autumn campaign. He has since had the ultimate gear change and looks well placed to break his maiden tag. From barrier four, he looks like he will settle in the one-one and be given the best run in transit. When asked for an effort, Limited Vision should be too strong for this lot over the 1112m.

Next Best: Maldestro

Having now won five races in a row, the Alan Keenan-trained Maldestro has made his way up from picnic-level racing to a win over this same track and distance on February 26. He is a genuine front-runner who should have no issue getting across to the head of the field from barrier eight, especially with Alexandra Bryan’s 2kg claim bringing the weight down to 61.5kg. The field Maldestro meets here is no harder than what he convincingly beat three weeks back. He is racing in career best form and looks a safe bet in the third leg of the quaddie.

Best Value: Classy Pins

With the top two in the market expected to be at opposite ends of the field, all eyes would be on the leader Captain Spud and the backmarker Criminal. However, the Maher & Eustace-trained Classy Pins has form behind the handy Succeed Indeed and will not be far from the speed throughout the running. From barrier eight, we expect Michael Dee to try and get the Pins filly into the one-one with a bit of luck. Look for her to be peeling off the leaders’ heels entering the home straight and then fighting out the finish at an each-way price.

Best ValueRace 5 – Classy Pins (#8) $8.50 with Sportsbet
