Wednesday racing tips for Sale

Best Bet
Race 5 – Master Montaro @ $2.50

Master Montaro has kept us waiting since he was scratched on Saturday morning, but the exciting gelding makes his return in a benchmark 64 on Wednesday. The son of Toronado won by 3.5 lengths on debut at Pakenham, settling last and weaving his way through the field to win in a canter. He has since been sold to Mr Lee in Hong Kong for a seven-figure sum and transferred to Team Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig before he departs. In a race that looks to have plenty of speed on, Michael Walker will look to settle towards the rear again from gate 12 and use Master Montaro’s scintillating turn of foot in the straight to replicate his debut win. The 1100m will suit the gelding down to the ground and we cannot wait to see him back at the races.

Next Best
Race 8 – Street Tough @ $6.50 Bet365

Paddy Payne and Billy Egan combine in the final race on the program with last start runner-up Street Tough. Coming off a luckless second at Warrnambool three weeks ago, we expect the 5yo to go one better today. His soft track record reads the best for this race with three wins and a placing from six attempts. Egan will likely settle midfield and have the horse charging late in what will be his first start beyond 1200m. Third up into his campaign, Payne should have Street Tough peaking for his 1400m assignment. The $6.50 looks to be a real treat for punters here.

Best Value
Race 3 – Sequalus @ $9.50 Sportsbet

Sequalus has had just the one run to date, where she finished second behind the well-backed China Affair at Cranbourne a fortnight ago. On that occasion, she landed in front and boxed on gamely, only to be beaten three-quarters of a length with a gap back to third. That race was on a soft track as well, so we know she will get through the going. From barrier three, Jake Noonan will be positive again and control the race like last start. She has the quickest average sectional times in the race, which will be vital over the sprint trip.
