Racing heads to Sale Racecourse on Friday afternoon for an eight-part card, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie selections with odds from Australia’s best bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 7 with the rail in the true position, and the first field is set to face the starter at 1pm AEST.
Sale Best Bet: Runaway River
Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra saddle up their three-year-old Runaway River, who comes off a tough run when finishing second at Echuca. Having settled three wide without cover up on speed, the Street Boss filly stuck on gamely on the bottomless Heavy 10 track. From barrier seven on Friday, we expect Liam Riordan to find her cover midfield and give her the chance work into the race under her own steam. She showed at Echuca she can handle the rain-affected track, and we expect her to break her run of consecutive runner-up performances with a maiden victory over the 1100m.

Next Best for Sale: Apres La Mer
In the second leg of the Sale quaddie, we are siding with the resuming Apres La Mer for the Dean Binaisse yard fresh off a four-month spell. The Reward For Effort mare was last seen breaking her maiden at Sandown on March 10 in an all-the-way victory where she managed to dictate terms and then kick clear when asked to. Brett Prebble hops on board for the first time, and from barrier six we expect there to be little issue in finding the front on a day where it may be advantageous to be up on speed. She is the one we want to be with.
Race 6 – Apres La Mer (#6)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1374037_06]
Sale Value Bet: Delightful Hustler
The Nick Harnett-trained Delightful Hustler is back from a three-month spell and returns to a track she has tasted plenty of success at in the past. With two wins from three starts at Sale last campaign, we expect the four-year-old Delightful Choice mare to be hard to beat first-up. She has a win to her name on Soft ground, so we know she will handle the going. As long as she is raring to go upon resumption, she is the one to be with in the third leg of the quaddie.
