The second race of the afternoon at Morphettville is the Group 3 South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes for two-year-olds. Run over 1400m, a field of 12 has been assembled for the $127,250 feature race. Three Kings is the $3.30 favourite ahead of Biscayne Bay and Cloudy at $5.50, while Karacasu rounds out those runners in single figures as a $7 chance. Forever And A Day showed speed on debut, so we expect her to lead, but that will not be without company from Three Kings, Blushing Tycoon and Cloudy.

We thought one of the better bets of the afternoon came up here in the form of race favourite and top weight, Three Kings. Tony & Calvin McEvoy won this race the last two years with She Shao Fly and Ringbolt and they have also won it another two times as well, so this classy colt would no doubt have been set for this all along. The son of Sebring has had four career starts and comes of back-to-back wins at Ballarat and Flemington when he won the Listed Anzac Day Stakes over 1400m, defeating Biscayne Bay and he meets her the same at the weights in this. Drawn barrier six under Luke Currie, he will be up eyeballing the leaders and can be tough at the end of 1400m. He will be very hard to beat in this.

Another Sebring offspring is the Hayes & Dabernig-trained Biscayne Bay, who as we mentioned finished second to Three Kings last start at Flemington. She has only had the three starts; fifth on debut in the SA Magic Millions 2YO Classic, a winner at Sandown in good style, and then her narrow miss at Listed level last time out. That should see her right in this, and she is a deserving second favourite in out books. If anything is going to beat Three Kings, it is this filly, despite the fact that she doesn’t get any weight relief, it’s just a question of where she gets to in the run. Drawn barrier three under Damien Oliver could spell disaster as she is a get back horse and will be spotting the leaders a start. Danger.

Danny O’Brien’s filly Forever And A Day led all of the way to win on debut in her only start at Geelong. While that was a 2YO Maiden at country level and this is much harder, we liked what we saw given how well she fended off the challengers and put a space on the third horse. She now has to step up to Group 3 level which she will find tougher, but she has drawn well in barrier four and gets a good jockey in Damian Lane aboard. By No Nay Never, she should be able to see out the 1400m strongly and can give this a shake from in front.
