The North Island of New Zealand is hosting another race meeting on Saturday and it’s being held at Ruakaka with nine races carded on what is likely to be a soft surface with fine weather forecast on the day. The first race begins at 11.48am (NZST).
Ruakaka Best Bet: Chevron
Trainer Chris Gibbs hardly ever leaves Ruakaka without a winner and in Race Three Chevron looks hard to beat. This 5yo gelding was an unlucky third on the track at his last start where he had no room in the run home. He steps up to his favourite distance and will appreciate the soft conditions and also the track where he has previously had 10 starts for three wins and five minor placings. There should be a good win price on this horse to be found with jockey Warren Kennedy doing the riding.

Ruakaka Next Best: Follow Your Dreams
The next best bet comes in Race Seven with the Rae/Williams trained Follow Your Dreams hoping to improve on his last start third. He has good form and should be nearing peak fitness for this race. The soft track will suit and jockey Kelsey Hannan is doing the riding again after winning on the gelding on this track this time last year. Ideally from the barrier three he will be ridden in the first half of the field and be sprinting home over the top in the last furlong of the race.

Mischief Managed is our value bet at Ruakaka in Race Eight. This Rae/Williams trained filly has been racing on very heavy tracks and needs better going to show her best which she could get on Saturday. She has raced well on the track in the past and has raced much better fields than what she meets here. There should be a good each-way price on this horse to be found with jockey Kelsey Hannan doing the riding and claiming 2kg.
