Rosehill tips and best bets for Golden Slipper Day 2020

Rosehill racing tips - Golden Slipper Day 2020

WELCOME to our Rosehill tips for Golden Slipper Day 2020, with it promising to be a cracking day of racing, despite no crowd due to be on course because of the coronavirus crisis gripping Australia.

Rosehill is headlined by the seventh race on the card — The Golden Slipper — which is a Group 1 two year olds race over 1200m under set weight conditions.

Our Rosehill tips will give you a cheat sheet for the day, and potentially a conversation starter for those lucky enough to be locked up in isolation with a horse racing fanatic (sorry Mum).

Golden Slipper tip: Hanseatic

Hanseatic ($7) might have finished behind Tagaloa ($5) in the Blue Diamond Stakes, but I am tipping he can reverse the fortunes in the Golden Slipper. Kerrin McEvoy takes over the ride from Tim Clark which won’t hurt.

One to keep an eye on is Hungry Heart, with the Frankel filly to be ridden by James McDonald, who we regard as one of the best in the business. While given the breeding we expect her to improve markedly over more ground a year down the track, we get the feeling this Chris Waller trained two year old is a star in the making. Hungry Heart is also offering some great value in the betting, being priced at $16 with Sportsbet.

Rosehill best bet: Cosmic Force ($7)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1318611_08]

I am really impressed with Cosmic Force and it is proven to be one of the best three year old sprinters in Australia.

Cosmic Force was super-impressive first-up despite finishing second in the Fireball Stakes on Saturday, behind a flying Villami, who he was giving up 5kg to. This time Cosmic Force will carry just 50kg and has proven form second-up, having won the Roman Consul Stakes in the Spring.

As long as Cosmic Force gets a start (the colt is also nominated for Darby Munro earlier in the day), we can see him being taken closer to the pace early by big race jockey Glen Boss and blowing the others in the Ranvet away.

George Ryder Stakes tip: Te Akau Shark

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1318611_05]

I’m not offering much value here, but it would be remiss not to tip Te Akau Shark in the George Ryder Stakes. Fresh off a blistering win in the Chipping Norton , Te Akau Shark is deservedly a $2.15 favourite with BetEasy to win this race. Te Akau Shark ran his final 600m, 400m and 200m in 32.64, 21.64 and 11.16 which is better than anything Winx produced in her four victories in the Chipping Norton Stakes.
