Race 1 – BM71 Handicap (1200m)

Demerara is a talented three-year-old filly for James Cummings which is currently unbeaten from two starts. The Commands filly won by just over a length on debut before having four trials in preparation for its resuming run at Gosford. That was an impressive 3.8-length win with 61kg on its back and dropping in weight will help its cause here.

Envy Of All has yet to finish out of the money in four starts and it has been prepared for this with two trial placings. The Kris Lees-trained filly was a winner at Canterbury last time to the races where it scored a comfortable victory at Canterbury over a quality field. This isn’t much easier here, but Hugh Bowman rides and that’s a big positive.

Race 2 – Maiden Handicap (1100m)

Golden Rose-winning trainer Gerald Ryan lines up debutante Sparkly Star. The three-year-old colt has been prepared with two trials and the latest was a win at Rosehill over 900m. The son of Star Witness has drawn awkwardly in barrier 10, but it looks to have plenty of barrier speed so consider it as a win option.

Chris Waller lines up Balearic which has the benefit of race day experience. The three-year-old finished fifth on debut at Hawkesbury behind Marble before stepping up over more ground and running second at Wyong behind Island Missile. Dropping back in distance could be the worry, but the betting will indicate its winning chances.

Race 3 – BM70 Handicap (1900m)

Wine Bush hasn’t been the most consistent runner for Chris Waller, but it drops down in grade again here. The winner of one from 15 starts has been good enough to run at stakes level on multiple occasions and despite being out of form, it won’t find fields much easier than this.

Ready for Success has finished in the money on seven from 19 starts and it has been producing good efforts this campaign. The More than Ready four-year-old scored a win at a lower level four starts back and it has since finished close to the winners. It should be paying good each way odds.

Race 4 – BM77 Handicap (1500m)

Awoke is the class runner of the field after producing quality placings at its last two starts. The Waller-trained four-year-old defeated The Pharoah at Canterbury three starts back before running close up at Rosehill its last two. Any easing of the track would be ideal as it’s unbeaten in a slow surface, but respect its chances regardless.

Smart As comes into this with a recent win under its belt and it could handle the rise in grade. The Tim Martin-trained mare scored a good win at Goulburn last year over some nice types and since then it has competed well in strong midweek fields. This is another rise in class, but don’t discount its chances.

Race 5 – BM83 Handicap (1100m)

In Times of War has scored two wins and seven placings from nine starts which makes it a major threat. The Waller-trained mare resumed last start with a placing behind Nictock and it lost no admirers following that effort. It has form behind the likes of Bonny O’Reilly and Memes, but despite facing another tough field here, it shouldn’t find it overly difficult.

Diddums has class on its side and its win in the P.J Bell Stakes is worth taking note of. The Ryan-trained mare by Snitzel defeated a classy field by 1.8 lengths and there’s plenty of merit in that run. It has won one of its two fresh up starts and the 2kg apprentice claim is a big help.

Race 6 – BM83 Handicap (1300m)

Osborne Bulls looks to have a bright future after remaining unbeaten with a stylish win last start. The Cummings-trained runner looked beaten at Gosford last start, but it sprouted wings late to score by a half-length. The son of Street Cry has won all three starts impressively and it could be the next big thing out of the Australia Godolphin barn.

My True Love is a consistent type for the Waterhouse/Bott team and it comes into this with back-to-back stakes placings under its belt. The four-year-old last ran in the Sunshine Coast Guineas in July where it finished second behind Crack Me Up and it usually fires in a fresh up state. Expect it to roll forward from the wide barrier and give them something to chase.

Race 7 – BM80 Handicap (1500m)

Shock Alert ran second behind Fortensky last start, but it gets a significant weight advantage this time around. The Bjorn Baker-trained four-year-old was a winner at Kembla Grange two starts back and it should start showing some of that form as it gets up over more distance. Dropping to 52kg with the apprentice claim gives it an each way chance.

Tangled isn’t the most consistent type, but it hasn’t been racing against fields like this. The Waller-trained colt won the Champagne Classic at Doomben before taking on the likes of Melody Belle and Capital Gain at group one level. Its run in the Run to the Rose was very poor, but punters should expect quick improvement with that run under its belt.

Race 7 tip: Shock Alert to place at CrownBet.com.au

Race 8 – BM77 Handicap (1200m)

Sprinting to Win has turned its form around to win two on the trot. The Snowden-trained four-year-old has shown the ability to win its last two and it should run well again here if it gets some luck from an outside barrier.

Gaulois was a strong winner of Hualalai last start and that form should hold up well. The Cummings-trained colt had strong form prior behind the likes of Trekking, Goodfella and Envy of All, which should stack up nicely for this. It handles all track conditions and it should go close.

Race 8 tip: Gaulois to win at Sportsbet.com.au
