Rose Of Kingston Stakes 2020 betting tips & best odds

Pretty Brazen
Pretty Brazen will turn out for Tony and Calvin McEvoy in the Group 2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes at Flemington this weekend.

The Group 2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes is the penultimate race on Turnbull Stakes Day at Flemington, jumping at 4:25pm AEST. A capacity field of 16 will greet the judge, and there looks to be no shortage of quality in the race.

In a wide-open market, Perth galloper Perfect Jewel comes up a $4.50 favourite for Grant and Alana Williams after his runner-up performance in the Stocks Stakes last Friday night at Moonee Valley. Rubisaki at $6 will be looking to bounce back from his disappointing first-up run at Caulfield. Pretty Brazen and Madam Rogue both come out of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and will appreciate being back at Flemington.

The Let’s Elope Stakes winner from two starts ago, was far from disappointing when going down a length to the in-form Behemoth in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes a fortnight ago, and looks hard to hold out here for Tony McEvoy and Luke Currie. She maps to get a perfect sit on the leaders from barrier four and the wide straight at Flemington will ensure he can produce the turn of foot she is starting to be renowned for. The 4YO mare will need to overturn a four length defeat by Perfect Jewel in the Cockram Stakes in late August, but has been in superb form since and looks more than capable of doing so.

Patrick Payne and Billy Egan will be hoping that the 4YO mare’s first up run in the Cockram Stakes was just a blimp on the radar and it was the first time she had run outside of the quinella in 11 starts. She is absolutely bombproof over the Flemington 1400 metres, and the last time she was at the track and distance and went on to score handsomely over Pretty Brazen. Rubisaki is undefeated when second up, and connections will be hoping that can continue in the Rose Of Kingston Stakes.

The Godolphin mare took up the running in the aforementioned Let’s Elope Stakes, but was quickly run down with 200m to go. Two starts back, she was impressive when taking out the PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield and will be aiming to take a forward position again after drawing the widest barrier here. She gets the blinkers back on again and she can only benefit from the tough second up run.
