Saturday racing tips for Rockhampton
Six races will be run and won at Rockhampton on Saturday afternoon. The rail is out +6m for the entire course, while the surface is currently rated a Good 4. Race 1 will jump at 2:17pm local time.
The Rockhampton Cup winner lines up here in a five-horse race over 1200m. While the six furlongs is short of his best, he maps to dictate terms from barrier one under Ash Butler, and that will prove crucial in the business end. He drops half a kilo off his last-start last placing and drops 100m in trip, which does look an advantage here in the small field. He loves Rocky, winning six of nine here, and he loves the winning post, so expect the big grey to make every post a winner.

Tom Smith saddles up three live chances in this race, but the best of them looks Ask Me Tomorrow, who has never missed the quinella from six starts (6:3-3-0). The son of Red Dazzler finished just a length off Brigalow Boy, who was a narrow runner-up last time out and gapped third to frank this form. Drawn barrier seven, regular rider Ash Butler will look to settle in the first half of the field to give his mount every chance. This gelding flies over the 1200m and is a winner at Rockhampton in the past. He won two trials leading up to his first-up run, so he should be fit and ready to fire.

Vernazza recently joined the Peter Fleming stable from the Matt Dunn yard and was an impressive all-the-way winner in his stable debut two start ago. He folded late last time out in a high-pressure race where he had to work hard to cross from the wide alley. He gains Justin Stanley and is drawn low in barrier four to find the front comfortably. The 1200m and a drop in weight are two ticks in his favour and should allow him to dictate terms and boot clear at the business end.
