HorseBetting’s Queensland racing analyst brings you his best bets, value picks and quaddie numbers for Friday’s seven-race card at Rockhampton, which is headlined by the Tattersall’s Sprint. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is in the true position for the entire course. The first race is set to jump at 12:57pm, while the featured Tattersall’s Sprint will round out the program at 4:42pm.

Tattersall’s Sprint Best Bet: Moreno

Former Chris Waller gelding Moreno has won his past two starts for trainer Wayne Pomfrett at Bowen and Moranbah respectively, but he has done it in style under big weights both times. Since relocating to North Queensland, the four-year-old has won eight races from 13 starts and now looks hard fit in time for the North Queensland Winter Carnival where he is sure to play a part. Marnu Potgieter claims 2kg, which will see the son of Charm Spirit in with 57.5kg, and despite drawing a touch wide in barrier nine, he should get a lovely run just off the speed. He can make it three straight in this. Last Chance is flying at the moment, but the 63kg is unappealing, so we will be watching with interest in regards to the Rockhampton Newmarket in a fortnight.

Tattersall’s Sprint TipRace 7 – Moreno (#4) $5 with Sportsbet

Best Bet at Rockhampton: Namazu

Ricky Vale will debut former Godolphin galloper at Rockhampton on Friday in Namazu, and in Class 1 company the gelding looks very hard to beat. The three-year-old son of Medaglia D’oro finished sixth at Newcastle in his most recent start on April 10th in a race that has produced four subsequent winners. The start prior, Namazu was only five lengths behind The Elanora and Queensland Derby winner Kukeracha at Rosehill which reads very well. The 1500m will be ideal, and the booking of Ryan Wiggins shows plenty of intent by Vale. He will be midfield with cover and should be able to make it win number two on Friday.

Best BetRace 5 – Namazu (#1) $2.45 with Sportsbet

Rockhampton Value Bet: Hinvictus

William Weeks and Marnu Potgieter combine in the penultimate race with the ultra-consistent Hinvictus. The four-year-old gelding has finished runner-up in his past three starts – all of which have been at Rockhampton – and now a month between runs he should be fresh and ready to win. Potgieter takes 2kg off the son of Hinchinbrook’s back which will be the lightest weight he has carrier in three starts, and from the good gate (7), he should get every chance just off the speed. The gelding’s run of seconds can end here with a win in Class 2 company.

Best ValueRace 6 – Hinvictus (#9) $7.50 with Sportsbet
