Rockhampton Horse Betting Preview – 29th Decemeber 2020
A nice seven race card has been assembled for Rockhampton on Tuesday afternoon. The track is rated a good 4, and the rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the course.
Race 1 is set to face the starter at 1:34pm Local Time.
Jared Wehlow and Ryan Wiggins have a formidable partnership lately, striking at 24%, so they’re worth following, especially at Wehlow’s home track. In the second race, they combine aboard last start Townsville winner, Electrified. Formerly with Joseph Pride in Sydney, the son of Declaration of War has a nice record of 4 wins from 22 starts, so he will take some beating here in Central Queensland. Staying at the mile and drawn to get the gun run from barrier 1, he’ll be hard to beat again.
Sirfina bolted in last start at Mackay when a short priced favourite, and looks primed to make it two straight here under Ryan Wiggins who returns from a suspension with a nice book. The Tim Cook trained Choisir gelding will find the front from barrier 3 and should be able to dictate terms due to a lack of pressure. Third-up should see him fit enough to win in style against some pretty slow ones.
Ricky Vale had a year to remember, training the Rockhampton Cup winner, Absolute Artie, and his luck looks to continue here with ultra impressive last start winner, Ornate. Elyce Smith retains the ride here, after winning on the five-year-old mare by nearly 3L at Mackay a fortnight ago. She steps up to 1400m on Tuesday, and shouldn’t find herself too far away from the speed from barrier 5. She can make it back to back wins in what is a weak Benchmark 58.
