Renaissance Woman and Josh Parr have taken out the Ethereal Stakes over Foxy Cleopatra and the runaway leader Pavitra, who stuck on for third.

Both Renaissance Woman and Foxy Cleopatra came from the very back of the field and rounded the bend five and six wide getting out to what looked to be the better ground.

As they rounded the bend Pavitra had a three-length lead still, but they quickly ate into the lead and paired off to clear out by over two lengths on the line to fight out the finish.

Josh Parr and Bjorn Baker have combined for their first win of the day, which could be somewhat of a prelude to their combination with Duais in the Caulfield Cup later in the day.

2022 Ethereal Stakes Replay

Bjorn Baker and his stable have recorded their first winner of the day with Renaissance Woman and Stephanie Cook, one of the stables foreman, spoke after the race about their Group 3 win.

“It’s just so special, I can’t thank the boss and the team enough. They’ve done so much work with her and I’ve been looking after her since day one she came into the stables.” Cook was very emotional after her young filly won the Ethereal Stakes.

“I’m so happy for the team and to see Josh (Parr) win on her as well, he’s done a great job.”

Josh Parr has ridden his first winner on Caulfield Cup Day, after making the trip down to Caulfield for his main ride on Duais in the Caulfield Cup later in the day.

“The physical development she’s made is great. I trialled her at Rosehill and then rode her in a race at Canterbury and I was quite upbeat about the feel that she gave me, just screaming out for time.” Josh Parr remembered his ride on this filly back in June of this year.

“I was confident in my pursuit of the lead group, I had a lot of horse. I just had to just take my time. She needed my help around Caulfield the first time.

“Foxy Cleopatra was being a total nuisance to my outside but we took care of them and got the job done.”

Renaissance Woman joins Foxy Cleopatra and So Dazzling as equal $6 favourites for the VRC Oaks on November 3 with online bookmakers.
