The Reisling Stakes is a Group 2 race for two-year-old fillies, run over 1200m under set weights by the Australian Turf Club at Royal Randwick.
A key lead-up to the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the Reisling Stakes winner gains ballot exemption for the $5 million feature.
First held as the Reisling Slipper Trial in 1973, it was renamed the Reisling Stakes in 2005.
Originally run at Rosehill, the Reisling Stakes moved to Randwick in 2015.
The Reisling Stakes became Listed in 1979, Group 3 in 1980, and was elevated to Group 2 in 1986.
Seven fillies have completed the Reisling–Golden Slipper double, most recently Estijaab in 2018.
The 2024 Reisling Stakes, worth $300,000, was won by Erno’s Cube, defeating Silmarillion and Too Darn Lizzie.

Recent runnings of the Reisling Stakes:
- Ciaron Maher & Jason Collett combined with Erno’s Cube ($3.60) to secure victory in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m). It was a perfectly timed steer by Collett, who elected to sit back for cover throughout the middle stages of the race, while bookmaker favourite Too Darn Lizzie ($3.10) utilised her early speed to lead early. James McDonald got the eventual runner-up Silmarillion ($4.60) into a lovely stalking position in the one-on-one throughout, while the Anthony Cummings-trained Extreme Diva ($7.50) was locked up with nowhere to go when the whips were cracking. Silmarillion looked to have them all covered with 200m left to travel, but Too Darn Lizzie was in for the fight, as Erno’s Cube launched late to spoil both their parties, getting the head down when it mattered most.
- Golden Slipper favourite and unbeaten two-year-old filly Learning To Fly took out the Group 2 Reisling Stakes in a strong showing after he led and was challenged by Facile for most of the 1200m event. After jumping well from barrier one, the daughter of Justify chose to take up the lead and let the Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou-trained runner-up settle outside of her, before they both battled it out down the length of the Randwick straight, with only a half-head separating the two on the line.
- Seven Veils was able to lead all of the way in the 2022 Group 2 Reisling Stakes at Randwick. The Mark Newnham-trained filly booked her spot into the $5 million Golden Slipper with a dominant showing in the Reisling, fending off challenges from Ojai and Dashing Legend. The daughter of Shalaa was ridden perfectly by Kerrin McEvoy, which saw her kick clear to win by 1.8 lengths. Race favourite Russian Conquest was disappointing in fourth, while hihgly-touted debutant Greece was a complete flop, finishing 11.5 lengths away in last place.
