HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst has previewed the 10-race card at Randwick on Boxing Day and brings you his best bets, value bet and quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Soft 6, while the rail is out 6m from the 900m to the Winning Post and 4m for the remainder of the course. The first race will jump at 12:40pm AEDT.

Randwick’s Best Bet Of The Day – Hard To Say

We aren’t waiting around on Sunday for our best bet, as Jason Deamer’s two-year-old, Hard To Say, goes around. The son of Exceed And Excel has caught our eye in each of his first three starts, despite not winning yet, however he looks to get an ideal set up in the opener. After sticking on gamely in his debut back in October in the Breeders’ Plate, Hard To Say then finished midfield at Rosehill on a bottomless Heavy 10, before being sent north to Queensland where he ran a slashing second behind undefeated Palazzo Spirit at Listed level over 1000m at Eagle Farm. He now steps back out to 1100m which is going to suit, while barrier six allows Christian Reith to get him into a lovely spot, just trailing the speed. Deamer has added Winkers for the first time, which should see him settle a bit better and be switched on earlier to ensure he is close enough to strike late. We really like this colt and believe that he can be a major player in next month’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast.

Next Best Bet – Snippy Fox

The in-form stable in New South Wales at the minute is that of Joe Pride’s, and his five-year-old mare Snippy Fox is a glowing example of that. The daughter of Foxwedge has returned this campaign with two brilliant wins at Canterbury and Randwick respectively, and now looks primed to make it three on the trot. Like Hard To Say, Snippy Fox has been scratched from Doomben on Sunday to race in Sydney, which looks to be a strong push towards her chances in Sydney. Jay Ford has a good affiliation with this mare, and he sticks with her which we like to see. Drawn perfectly in gate four, Snippy Fox should get a lovely run in behind the speed, before she is allowed to pounce late. With this mare, it is a case of the more rain, the better, so the Soft 6 will be right up her alley. She looks too good for these.

Best Value At Randwick – Ho Ho Khan

The feature race of the afternoon is the Group 3 Summer Cup over 2000m, where a couple of ex-Hong Kong participants link up. The recently-returned Chad Schofield will partner Ho Ho Khan, who is having his second Australian start after spending three years in Honkers. The seven-year-old entire is a son of Makfi, and he really caught our eye when running an unlucky third in the Wodonga Cup on a Heavy 10 track over 1590m, where he was beaten less than half a length behind the in-form Akecheta. Ho Ho Khan mixed it with some of the best middle distance horses in the world during his time in Hong Kong, so a below-average bunch of Group 3 runners during the summer months in Sydney shouldn’t be any different. He handled the wet track first-up, so the Soft 6 shouldn’t be an issue, while Schofield will be able to allow his mount to settle from the outside barrier (11). The $20 seems absurd.

Best BetRace 7 – Ho Ho Khan (#6) $20.00 with Sportsbet
