Metropolitan racing heads to Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday for a massive 10-race program. The rail is out a significant +11m from the 1000m marker to winning post and will sit out +7m the remainder of the course. The weather on the radar looks to ensure a Good 4 surface, with the first race set to get underway at 11:10am AEST.
Randwick Best Bet: Louisville
Louisville is yet to miss the frame in his six career starts and we’re expecting that trend to continue. He’s been outstanding since joining the Chris Waller team from across the ditch, breaking his maiden second-up before powering through the line at his latest effort at Randwick on June 24. He ran second behind another progressive staying type, Aristonous, and based on what we saw, this son of Redwood should relish the step-up in trip to 1800m. Zac Lloyd takes the reins and gets Louisville into this BM78 affair with a featherlight weight of 52kg on his back. If he can overcome the wide draw, win number two should be heading his way on Saturday.

Next Best at Randwick: Vienna Princess
Vienna Princess should be searching for back-to-back wins this weekend, but she found a traffic jam last start at Rosehill on July 1. Kerrin McEvoy got pinned up on the inside rail with nowhere to go when turning for home and Vienna Princess never got a fair crack at her opposition, heading to the line under a stranglehold. That shouldn’t be the case this Saturday from barrier seven, as newly appointed jockey Jason Collett will be looking to keep Vienna Princess one off the rail with some cover throughout the 1400m journey. Provided she gets the luck this time, the three-year-old filly should storm over the top of her rivals to chalk up her second win of the campaign.

Randwick Value Bet: United Nations
United Nations is set to make his Australian debut for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable after a 434-day spell. He’s got some class on his side after winning the Listed Derby Trial at Lingfield in May 2022, before suffering a set-back and heading down under. There’s no doubt the 1800m may be short of his best trip moving forward; however, we’re getting a fair price with the top bookmakers for this Galileo colt, and with three barrier trials prior to his return, we trust he’s wound up enough to be competitive on resumption – especially with the soft draw in barrier three.
