Best Bet: Katalin

Our best bet on the program comes up in the penultimate race when the James Cummigns-trained Katalin steps out for the first time in 14 months. The now four-year-old mare has had two trials prior to this first-up run and looks raring to go. We expect James McDonald to have her settled midfield with cover from the wide barrier, and as long the pair do not get trapped wide, they will prove hard to hold out. Katalin showed a sharp turn of foot in her initial campaign, and if she can reproduce those efforts on Wednesday, she should bring up her third win from five starts.

Best BetRace 6 – Katalin (#10) $3.10 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Fashchanel

John O’Shea and James McDonald will be looking to make it back-to-back wins over the Kensington 1400m with four-year-old Fashchanel. The I Am Invincible mare was an impressive winner back on April 25 under similar conditions to what she will face on Wednesday. From barrier one and with early barrier speed, we expect McDonald to take her to the front and use the rail to good advantage. While Fashchanel goes up 2kg from that last-start win, she has shown in the past that she can carry a big weight and still be competitive. With a lack of speed in the race, she should get a quiet time out in front and will prove hard to run down.

Next BestRace 2 – Fashchanel (#1) $2.40 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Captivare

Despite still being a maiden after nine starts, the Chris Waller-trained Captivare is never far away from the finish and strikes a winnable BM68 here. We expect Tommy Berry to go forward from the wide barrier on the son of I Am Invincible and settle outside the leader. The three-year-old gelding plummets 4kg in the weights off his last-start third at Newcastle and has already received early market support. Having yet to finish outside of the top three in four runs this campaign, we expect him to be fighting out the finish on Wednesday with an impressive on-pace performance.

Best ValueRace 5 – Captivare (#10) $13 with Bet365
